I am profoundly aware that, for many students, mathematics is a cause of anxiety, frustration, and embarrassment. This need not be the case. Traditionally, mathematics instruction has favored a specific type of student and learner. A learning approach that is more conceptual with a greater depth of knowledge allows more students access to understanding, appreciation, and success.
In education, our ultimate goal is to create leaders who lead with character, who create rather than consume, and who attain influence through service.
